Flight Project Pyrotechnics Subsection Document Collection, 1971-1985.

The collection documents the pyrotechnics subsection of four projects that were managed by the Jet Propulsion Laboratory. Projects Viking, Voyager and Galileo comprise the bulk of the collection. There are also records from Mariner 10. Pyrotechnics are small controlled chemical explosive devices that may function as switches or drivers for change. The device is often referred to as a squib. The documents include reports, interoffice memoranda, test specifications, summary test reports, test orders, parts analysis reports, and electrical drawings.
